There is a misnomer that the Bureau
Field Representative is out to get
you.
The reality is that they
are helping you be compliant, assisting
you in understanding the regulations,
and are even available for training.
You see… it’s a perception
problem – use the representatives
to help you in running your business
to abide by the law.
In addition to
their expertise about the law, they
also can “walk the talk” when it
comes to the business of repairs.
Many have had their own service
centers and know the aches and pains
as well as the positives of owning
your own business.
There are currently six state field
representatives throughout California
that have been specially trained
in licensing, compliance inspections,
consumer rights, along with having
a good solid understanding of the
tricks of the trade.
The Bureau encourages businesses
to contact their area representatives
and ask lots of questions and seek
their assistance.
They provide the conduit
to bring the information up to the
headquarter level in
Sacramento,
voicing your concerns and headaches
and relaying business trends.
Use the Bureau’s “Industry Tip Form”
off their web site
www.bear.ca.gov to report questionable
activities, such as businesses that
are not registered, questionable
advertising tactics, unethical repairs
and customer service.
Please take note
of the local Bureau representative
in your area and if you haven’t
done so, give him or her a call
to introduce yourself:

In the next issue we are going to
talk about advertising, the requirements
and regulations, and how you need
to stay in compliance with the law
and regulations.
It’s vital for a business
to advertise and promote to get
new customers, but it’s also important
to do this in an ethical and lawful
way.
